Anchorage, Kentucky Civic Club
Founded in 1914



The Anchorage Civic Club is a non-profit community community club founded in 1914 by I. W. Bernheim (yes of Bernheim Forest fame) and had gradually ceased to function in the early 1930's due to the Depression.  In 1966, a number of Anchorage residents reorganized and incorporated the Anchorage Civic Club which has been thriving ever since.

Purpose of the Civic Club 
The purpose of this civic club is to promote and assist in the civic affairs of the City of Anchorage, Kentucky.  The corporation shall have the following specific purposes and functions with respect to said city:
  • To encourage and assist in public improvement of all kinds including public safety, streets highways, public buildings, schools and any and all things which are for the public good.
  • To create a closer acquaintanceship and promote mutual interest among members.
  • To disseminate information and improve communication among members.
  • To hold meetings for discussion and consideration of problems, needs and methods of improving the general welfare of the community.
  • To organize  committees and groups to study, plan and report on ways and means of making Anchorage a better place to live.
